There are a few hotels that have truly taken my breath away, and the Holiday Inn Phi Phi Island Resort is one of them. Located on the North Eastern tip of Phi Phi Island on the South Coast of Thailand, this resort is a hidden gem to those who have had the delight of staying here and an sought-after honeymoon location to those dreaming of their days to come. For my boyfriend and I, it was an absolute private paradise.
To reach the Holiday Inn Phi Phi Island Resort is quite a journey in itself, especially if you’re coming from outside of Thailand. Since there is no airport in Phi Phi Island you have to take ferry over. Once you reach the ferry port in Phi Phi Island you then have to take another ferry boat towards the North of the Island. Once the ferry arrives to the destination you then need to take a longboat to the shore. I know, its a lot of boating for one day but totally worth every minute. If you’re willing to spend a little bit of money you can charter a speedboat instead of taking the ferry.
The long journey is all part of the experience. You are surrounded by crystal clear waters, powdery white sanded beaches, and towering cliffs that look like something out of a Jurassic Park movie and when you arrive at the hotel it’s no different! Unlike the main strip of Phi Phi Island that is known for its loud parties and tourist filled streets, the Holiday Inn Phi Phi Island Resort is on its own private beach and cannot be reached by car due to the rocky cliffs surrounding the resort – no wonder I felt so secluded and relaxed the whole duration of my stay. The food here is similarly astounding and the staff will go out of their way to help make your stay an unforgettable one, no matter what that entails!
Our room at the resort was its own haven. From the outside it looked like a small little villa although when you stepped inside the place was way more spacious than I expected. From the front veranda we had views of the ocean and infinity pool (oh how I miss that pool already). This resort has all the facilities you can think of including free Wi-Fi internet access throughout the resort (that came in really handy since most places in Thailand we went to had really bad Wi-Fi connections), two outdoor swimming pools (one family pool and one relaxation pool for adults only), a boutique shop, a Spa, a Mini Gym, a Diving Center and non motorized water sport activities – essentially you never have to (want to) leave the resort.
My favourite part of the whole resort apart from the private beaches and delicious dining was the awe-inspiring views from the hilltop Sunset Bar. What’s great about this resort is that you have the views of both sides of the island, meaning you can watch the sunrise on the beach and the sunset no top of this stunning hilltop bar (while enjoying a delicious cocktail, yum!)
